Marvin K. Jacobs

Born on January 1, 1930 to Eastern European immigrant parents Sol Jacobs and Mollie Keran, Marvin grew up in Toledo's Old West End. He graduated from Scott High School in 1947, earned degrees in history and political science from Toledo University, and graduated from the University of Michigan Law School in 1953. He practiced law in Toledo for over six decades, retiring at age 84.

He married Marilyn Becker in 1956, celebrating their 70th anniversary shortly before his death. Together they had three children: Mark, Julie, and Robert.

Marvin served his community extensively, in leadership at Temple Shomer Emunim, as president of the Sylvania Board of Education (instrumental in establishing Sylvania Southview High School), and as board chair of Darlington House. He donated over 10 gallons of blood through the Red Cross, and in 2019 he and Marilyn endowed Toledo Jewish Family Service's food pantry, which has since served over 5,000 families.

He is survived by his three children, nine grandchildren, several great-grandchildren, and his brother Frank.
