Government headstones & markers.
The Department of Veterans Affairs furnishes a headstone or marker for the unmarked graves of eligible veterans, anywhere in the world, at no charge.
For eligible veterans who died on or after November 1, 1990, the VA may also provide a headstone or marker for graves that are already marked with a private one.
Available styles
Flat markers are available in granite, marble, and bronze, and upright headstones in granite and marble. Niche markers for cremated remains are also provided.
Installation
For burials in national cemeteries, state veterans' cemeteries, or military post or base cemeteries, cemetery officials arrange the headstone based on information from the next of kin. Spouses and dependents are not eligible for a government-furnished headstone or marker unless they are buried in one of these cemeteries.
Cost
While the headstone or marker itself is free, applicants must cover the cost of placement in a private cemetery. We are glad to help you with the application.
How may we help your family?
We are available any time of day, any day of the week.
