Sister Diana Lynn Eckel (formerly Sister M. Brian) died two days before her 81st birthday. The daughter of Howard and Marguarite Eckel, she joined the Sylvania Franciscan congregation in 1959, professing first vows in 1965 and final vows in 1971.
She earned degrees from Mary Manse College and the University of Detroit, and principal certification from the University of Toledo. She taught in elementary schools across several states and served as principal at St. Joan of Arc School and All Saints Parish, later holding congregational leadership roles and serving as Director of Mission Integration at St. Clare Commons until her retirement in 2021.
She celebrated her 60th Jubilee in 2025. She is survived by Sisters Julie and Mary, her sisters Darlene and Debbie, and numerous family members.
